currently listening to: HEY JIMMY! [Peacemaker Kurogane]
tadaima!
i have survived more than a week of being away from my computer. NEW RECORD! *rejoices*
didn't really try to go out for the past few days, except seeing my brother off at the Changi Airport and receiving him again when he came back a few days ago (that lucky guy), walking around TM with regina and juliana yet again because they wanted to swim at my house after eating lunch (or was it dinner?), visiting the CIA building the renew the photo on my passport (taken when i was 6 years old and the customs have persuaded me since 2 years ago to change my passport photo but i stubbornly refused), playing pool (the real thing!) with regina and juliana (and ended up hitting the ball out of the table), watching the movie "Polar Express" with my family (we bought some kinda cute mechanism that shines when you switch it on-- the one that's everywhere at Tampines Interchange), travelling to People's Park (yeah that old 'kok-kok' run-down building) to get some kind of foot massager for my Grandma ( the poor machine is overworked everyday in its attempt to massage the feet of every single person in my BIG family everyday), at the same time buying truckloads of food back home to feed the family and to pray to my late Grandpa (that was ALOT of food-- i'm getting fat), and finally buying tingxu's birthday present at Heerens, as well as the PIG CO. member that i'm suppose to give a christmas present to (that was some gift... holes in my poor wallet..).
hmm.. it does look like it's alot of outings. please do not misunderstand, many of them were completed simultaneously within 3-4 days so i actually stayed indoors for some time.
why wasn't it boring when i was staying indoors for the whole day?? ANIME MARATHON!!! *wahahahahaa*
i was amazed by the fact that i could manage quite alot of anime series before i raised the white flag and announce that i cannot continue watching another new series anymore. i thought i could at most complete 2 series, yet i went ahead to complete 5 series!! *still in shock*
if a series consists an average of 24 episodes, this means that i've completed around 120 episodes, where each episode is around 25 minutes, which means that i have sat in front of the telly for 3000 minutes, which is also equivalent to to 50 hours. argh... *backache*backache*
this may not be a good thing though. they say too much anime makes a japanese teenager a nerd. *sobx* buy hey! i'm not japanese! does this mean i'm a singaporean nerd?
already am. *wahahahahaha*
this year's anime marathon included "Scrapped Princess", "Peacemaker Kurogane", "Snow Fairy Sugar", "Weiss Kreuz Gluhen", "Nanaka 6/17"~
Scrapped Princess. a very good anime! i thought that this is the kinda anime that i prefer much more than all those magical girls type (sailormoon excluded). yeah! i like adventure! a little romance! a little sadness! quite alot of action!
MAGIC! and a decent storyline (and of course acceptable artwork)! BUT!!! *vomits blood* i thought that DVDs were suppose to be of guaranteed quality.. man, i regret my words. stupid uncle at Sino Complex in Hong Kong sold me a FAULTY DVD AGAIN!!! so i was so excited about what the next episode was going to be about and just as i pushed the forward button of my DVD control with trembling hands... everything went silent.
that was 4 episodes i missed! i was on the verge of tearing out all of my hair (yes, ALL of my hair) when i decided to proceed with the third and last disc. like always, my eyes didn't blink once (even if it did i wouldn't know) as i enjoyed yet another 4 episodes of the series (though i missed a major part of the storyline and had little idea of what was going on). *gasp* the final battle!! i thought to myself. sugoi!!! then i hit the forward button yet again and.... everything went silent.
my eyes widened and i started to stare at the god damned DVD player as it stared back in silence. it was already 2.30am in the morning. i could hear the irritating grasshoppers, the ever so loud snoring of my family members and the sound of running water. EVERYTHING, but the opening song of "Scrapped Princess".
4 episodes!!! final episodes too! ARGH!!! the stupid uncle at the Sino Complex in Hong Kong did it again!!
furiously, i shut off everything and went to bed. i tossed and turned in bed as feelings of anger welled up within me. i got up again, switched everything on, tried and failed again, then went to bed once more. i was silently cursing the Hong Kongers for having poor quality control and even made up my mind to stress utmost importance on quality control if i ever went into the manufacturing sector in the future, when i suddenly recall that i'd seen the "Scrapped Princess" VCD in Comics Connection when i was shopping with Alrina, Judy and Xinwei for Pipi's birthday present the other day and i thought of the $50 note in my wallet, reluctant to give it away to someone else.
i woke up at 10am (this kinda timing is rare for me) the next day and went on my hunt for the VCD. Whitesands was my first stop. excitedly, i rushed up to the Comics Connection and looked for the VCD but... there was only part I (i missed the episodes in part II). then i went to the vcd shop on level 2, they didn't have the vcd but the salesgirl claimed that they had the DVD. patiently, i waited for her to find it. 10 minutes passed, she was still looking for it.
"err.. i think it's ok. i don't have a DVD player at home anyway." a white lie was the only way i could get away from the shop. forgive me.
then i decided to try Tampines! on the way to TM, i checked the vcd store at the interchange. they didn't have it. i went to TM basement. they didn't have it either. *determination wavering* next i went to century square and tried the basement. the stupid shop undergoing renovation. *tears out hair* then finally i went to the Comics Connection there. SCRAPPED PRINCESS PART II!!! i could have screamed like a mad girl then but i am too restrained to do that. *waaahahah* $30?? ahh... i don't care!
so i left for home with the VCD and $20 left for the rest of my holidays. but my quest for the VCD was accomplished! (though it only had English subtitles..)
what is it they say? determination turns iron batons into needles or something. whatever-- you get my point.
*happy*happy* i like Raquel~~
and "Peacemaker Kurogane" really gave me a shock!! i was actually hesitant when i decided to buy the anime but it proved to be a really fantastic one!! OKITA-SAMA!!!! *swoons*faints* but i know he's gonna die... *sobx*. that's the problem with historical shows. history say you die, you'll die.
OKITA-SAMA~~~!!!!
my brother really likes the anime series, "Nanaka 6/17". honestly, i don't even remember including it into my anime list but somehow it just appeared miraculously. and it's good! i thought that it would be a typical magical girl anime, but i was much more than that!
miracles like this should happen more often. this is really one anime that i would recommend. i watched the first episode, apparently doubting the quality of this anime, and barely 15 minutes passed when the word "INTERESTING" appeared in my head. the sypnosis of this anime online? not reliable at all. Nanaka is no magical girl! she's just a normal 17 year old who has no powers or anything. she just idolizes a magical girl in an anime series. funny how they get the idea that she's an magical girl. it's such a funny and interesting anime! i should beware of such undependable reviews in the future. *nods head*
Snow Fairy Sugar is a product of Koge Donbo, who is probably famous for her "Pita-ten" series. the characters in this anime are really cute but somehow it just lacks a strong storyline. but i enjoyed watching the series anyway. and it actually made me cry! *shocked* my favourite is Salt!
Weiss Kruez Gluhen? ahh... a real dark and depressing show. i thought it would be like the first season of Weiss Kreuz where there are alot of different missions where the characters gradually develop their individuality, but it disappointed me when the whole anime only revolved around a single mission. the omi-kun looks so... so dots in this anime, and he's not part of Weiss anymore too! *sobx*
spolier: i don't wanna talk about the ending.
oh! and i've seen the full version of the w-inds. "yume no basho he" PV already!! like i always say... IT'S GREAT!!! this time it's really great. the song is very catchy and the PV is very "bright", if you know what i mean.
w-inds. rules!!
and ah~ma? do you have a friendster account or something? i'm trying to write testimonials for my friends recently~~
leaving for taiwan on the 17th!! which means i'm not gonna be able to blog very often already! don't worry! i won't buy souvenirs for everyone!
*wahahahahah*
